FLOATING PARKS

Internal operations approved antigrav platforms were created to hold approximate land masses ranging from 2.02 hectares to several times that of Central Park (of Old New York). The plants are all genetically scrubbed natural variants from the Earth’s surface and express all the colors (seasons), scents and textures of the originals. Advanced platforms exist in the official Conservatorium (located in CSSTAT-4) which hold entire stream/lake systems allowing for 20th century styled recreation including hiking, camping and even the ancient practices of kayaking and fly fishing. Satellite platforms can be found in Earth’s lower atmosphere (but above any danger of unstable surface events). Private, multi-day permits are necessarily expensive, though some exceptions are made for Trust employees and guests.

Scattered throughout all but CSSTAT-2 are small pockets of “floating nature” that allow station denizens to enjoy some part of the great outdoors of the planet below. (CSSTAT-2’s status as a dry dock leaves much of its interior without an atmosphere.) The Floating Parks Initiative is an independent project spearheaded by the Brightonham Conservation Trust established in the late 2391 by Harold 457-5592-4851. Rumored to be the distant relative of noted conservationist, Harry Brightonham, of the early 21st century, the director-level (and comparably civic-minded CMS individuals) pooled a small part of their massive wealth to create the Trust.
